Lake Greenwood SP 2022-01

My family began this adventure new years eve 2020. We have COVID-19 to thank for that. In 2020, we had a trip planned to Thailand. One month prior our scheduled departure the whole world started locking down and our trip was canceled.

Lake Greenwood SP 2022-01

My family began this adventure new years eve 2020.  We have COVID-19 to thank for that.  In 2020, we had a trip planned to Thailand.  One month prior our scheduled departure the whole world started locking down and our trip was canceled.  Through that year we only had one small week long vacation in which we rented a house.  My wife and I started looking at our future for traveling.  My main motivating desires were to lesson my stress levels while we are vacationing, costs, and increasing our independence.

Our first trip was quite a learning experience.  From pulling a travel trailer, getting set up, breaking our stabilizer, the camp sites water spigot falling apart, to trying to keep warm camping in the winter.  That being said, I love to learn!  We got hooked pretty early on.  We decided that this will be a yearly tradition for us to camp on new years.  It's an excellent way to have some quite fun with the people who mean the most to you on a special night.

And now.. the review.

Lake Greenwood | South Carolina Parks Official Site
Enjoy great South Carolina bass fishing and boating, charming CCC architecture and much more at Lake Greenwood State Park.

This was actually a pretty short stay for us.  It was supposed to be a long weekend but due to a scheduling issue we got a late start.  It was good timing for these campgrounds though.  We arrived as a lot of people were leaving for the holiday so it was pretty empty at the camp grounds.

The Pros

  • pretty empty campground at this time
  • very quiet and peaceful
  • camp site and hookups were in good condition
  • lake side camp sites
  • stunning views at times

The cons

  • terible signal
  • a lot of sites don't have sewage
  • roads were narrow
  • camp sites were narrow
  • no convenience or souveneir store on site
  • pretty far from grocery stores, restaurants, etc

Lake Greenwood was a decent campgrounds.  I could see us coming again but it's not really a must visit.

Over the next year, we are going to take our adventures to the next level.  We plan to start producing content on the following sites as we camp.
